Redmi Note 5/Note 5 Pro Price Specifications and Availability

Redmi Series has been a huge success in Indian market for the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi. Last year’s Redmi Note 4 was a huge success, which sold more than 9.6 Million units (in 2017)  as per the company claims. The other offerings such as Redmi 4, Redmi Y1/Y1 Lite, Redmi 5 and the Android One device Mi A1 contributed to make Xiaomi as the No. 1 Mobile company in India in the last 2 quarters of 2017 which is nothing less than astonishing for a company who is considerably new, entered the Indian market just a couple of years back and it dethroned the Market leader Samsung to gain the top position in the smartphone industry.
Taking its legacy ahead, Xiaomi today, launched the much awaited successor of the last year’s superhit Redmi Note 4, named as Redmi Note 5. As the leaks suggested, the company launched two variants of its latest offering – Redmi Note 5, and Redmi Note 5 Pro. Mi fans were eagerly waiting for this launch. There was quite a few rumours that the company will launch Redmi 5 Plus, which was launched in China earlier, as Redmi Note 5 in India which left all the Redmi Note fans disappointed. But the company did not disappoint their fans and brought a brand new phone to the Indian market making their fans and customers more than happy.
Redmi Note 5, as well as the Redmi Note 5 Pro, sports a metal unibody design with curved edges, tapered back cover. It sports a 5.99” Full HD+ IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass on top, with an 18:9 aspect ratio increasing the display area by 12.5%. The phone is now thinner at 8.05mm, compared to 8.5mm of the Redmi Note 4.
The Redmi Note 5 is powered by the same, QualComm Snapdragon 625, built on 14-nm manufacturing technology, same as the Redmi Note 4. The battery capacity is also the same at 4000 mAh. It gets Dual pyrolytic graphite sheet like the Mi A1, which decreases the phone temperatures upto 2 degrees which will keep the phone much cooler while charging, gaming or in summer weathers.
Whereas, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by the QualComm Snapdragon 636, first device to sport this chipset inside a smartphone, an octa-core chip built on 14nm FinFET architecture. This chipset uses Kyro microarchitecture, which has upto 50% higher performance and upto 40% more power efficient. This helped the Redmi Note 5 Pro achieve a huge AnTuTu score of 109,692.
The Redmi Note 5 packs in the latest LPDDR4X RAM (seen on devices such as OnePlus 5/5T) with upto 6GB of onboard memory.
Both the phone comes in four different color options at the launch time, i.e., Black, Gold, Rose Gold, Lake Blue.
Redmi Note 5 gets an upgraded 12 MP camera with large 1.25um pixels which will improve the low light photos as per the company. The smartphone also packs an LED Selfie light to capture better selfies in low light conditions.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro has a Dual Camera design, like the iPhone X, which is vertically places in the top left corner of the back. The primary sensor is 12 MP Sony’s IMX486 and the secondary sensor is 5MP Samsung’s Color sensor. This will help in more color accuracy and also help in capturing the Portrait Shots (processed using AI and Deep learning algorithms). The company claims that the Portrait mode works on humans as well as several objects.
Also, for the first time, Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with ElS (Electronic Image Stabilization) for shooting stable videos.
Xiaomi has gone ahead and applied the AI and Deep learning algorithms to the Front Camera as well. Yes, you can capture Bokeh selfies using the Front Cameras as well, much like the Pixel 2 and the iPhone X. The front camera is a 20MP IMX376 sensor, which is a major upgrade from the 5MP selfie camera seen previously on Redmi Note Series. To top it off, it comes with an LED Selfie light as well. Seems like the phone maker heard the fans. In addition, there is Beautify mode, which works on Front as well as Rear camera, making your photos more smooth and beautiful.
The Redmi Note 5 comes with two options. The 3GB + 32G variant comes at an astonishing price of ₹ 9,999, while the 4GB + 64GB variant of the device is priced at ₹ 11,999, which in both cases is, ₹ 1,000 lower than the launch price of Redmi Note 4.
